INTRO

This is our first time featuring a coffee from Nguisse Nare, a respected producer from the Bensa region. This specific lot was produced and processed with the help of Nguisse's neighbours. In the cup we taste fresh field blueberries, sweet stone fruit, and delicate purple florals reminiscent of lavender and lilac. This coffee has a round body and a sweet finish.

THE PRODUCER

Nguisse Nare is a part of a small number of single origin producers who dedicate time and resources to improving natural processing and harvesting of traceable single origins in Ethiopia. Nguisse grows JARC 74158, taro, and sweet potato. He focuses on natural and anaerobic processing, often processing coffee cherries grown and collected by his neighbours in addition to his own. The Setame farm has its own drying station, which gives Nguisse control over the process from start to finish.

THE PROCESS

The Natural process at Setame Farm involves meticulous handling:

  • πŸ’ Cherry Collection β€” Cherries from Nguisse's farm and neighbouring farms
  • πŸ’§ Floating β€” Water flotation removes defects and under-ripe cherries
  • β˜€οΈ Slow Drying β€” Approximately 20 days of careful drying
  • πŸ‘€ Quality Control β€” Close monitoring throughout the drying process

This slow, controlled natural processing results in a deeply sweet and complex cup with pronounced fruit characteristics.

THE CUP

Showcases the deeply sweet and complex profile achievable through careful natural processing. Fresh field blueberries, sweet stone fruit, and delicate purple florals reminiscent of lavender and lilac with a round body and a sweet finish.

Flavour Notes

  • 🫐 Field Blueberries
  • πŸ‘ Stone Fruit
  • 🌺 Purple Florals

What is the roast recency?

September doesn't generally advertise a roast preference to Filter or Espresso, however, this is an exception and this particular bag is best enjoyed as espresso!

We recommend brewing with beans that areΒ at least two weeks off roast. All beans are roasted to peak flavour at around 8-12 weeks. We have the option to either purchase standard beans (at least 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks off roast), or rested beans (at least 7 weeks off roast, no longer than 12). For peak flavour, if you are looking to use immediately, we recommend purchasing the rested beans. If you are adding to your rotation of beans, we recommend purchasing the standard and allowing the beans to naturally rest and mature whilst you rotate through other beans.
