INTRO

This is Prodigal's first offering from famed Cup of Excellence winning producer Linarco Rodriguez. The resonant red fruit flavours in this coffee are captivating โ€” cherry and jammy strawberry stand out, backed by a touch of honey. The acidity is beautifully balanced, helping to define the fruit flavours whilst remaining absolutely drinkable.


THE PRODUCER

Linarco Rodriguez Ospina (Don Lino) and his family have mastered the art of coffee growing and processing, consistently producing clean, sweet, flavourful coffees harvest after harvest. Linarco has five farms, with this lot coming from his Finca Betania. The operation is a true family affair โ€” both Linarco's mother and sisters are involved, and it all started with his grandparents.

Finca Betania spans 42 hectares in Palestina, Huila, with five hectares conserved as native forest. The farm sits at elevations between 1,700 and 2,000 metres above sea level, ideal conditions for developing complexity in the cup.


THE PROCESS

The Washed process at Finca Betania involves:

  • ๐Ÿ’ Selective Harvest โ€” Only ripe cherries are picked
  • ๐Ÿงช Anaerobic Fermentation โ€” 48 hours in sealed tanks
  • ๐Ÿ’จ Aerobic Oxidation โ€” A subsequent 48-hour aerobic oxidation phase (not fermentation!)
  • ๐Ÿ’ง Full Washing โ€” Coffee is fully washed after oxidation
  • โ˜€๏ธ Raised Bed Drying โ€” Dried on raised beds for 12 days
  • ๐Ÿ”ง Expert Milling โ€” Milled by Desarrolladores de Cafรฉ

This careful process creates a clean, fruit-forward profile with exceptional balance.
